This Sunday, September 8th at 4:00pm, we will be having a brief Dedication of the Organ followed by an inaugural concert featuring sacred music by Maestro Hector Olivera. As a follow-up to the Dedication of the Chapel, we take this moment to delight in the new and improved capabilities that our organ brings to our chapel and liturgical worship there.
We also wish to remember those who made this new instrument possible—from our many Heart of a Shepherd donors, to those who specifically donated to the work on this organ, and to our own Bishop Malesic, an organ enthusiast, who understood the opportunity and gave his blessing to it. But, we also need to remember one of the inspirations behind the organ renovation, Dr. Edward Kaczuk. It was his attentive care and stewardship for the music ministry and our liturgical instruments here at our Center for Pastoral Leadership that helped advance this project. It was his vision and guidance in its initial planning stages that laid a sound foundation for such a great instrument. The generations of seminarians and priests he helped form for ministry will always carry a little bit of Dr. Kaczuk with them whenever they prepare for and celebrate the sacred liturgies. The presence of this new organ certainly perpetuates his impact on the liturgical life of our diocese. See the flyer here for more information.
Please plan to join us as we continue to celebrate the new organ in our newly renovated Mary, Mother of the Good Shepherd Chapel. A simple reception will follow the concert in the Hannon Dinning Room.
