Francis Cardinal Arinze
His Eminence Francis Cardinal Arinze visited Saint Mary Seminary and presided at a community Mass. Cardinal Arinze, a native of Nigeria, was Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments from 2002 to 2008. When was consecrated a bishop in 1965 at the age of 32, Cardinal Arinze was the youngest bishop in the world. He also served as President of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue. Now retired, Cardinal Arinze has become a familiar presence at the seminary. We are blessed to have a giant of the Church present among us. In his homily, Cardinal Arinze reminded the seminarians that Christ is present…in the priest…in the homily…in the Church…in the sacrament. He challenged the seminarians to be priests who witness to the presence of Christ.
